New Cards

Yesterday, the Hero Arts order came in! Yeah!!! So, I finally got it all sorted and today I was able to sit down and play!

I started with the saying stamp set, "Truly Appreciated". I was so waiting for this set to come in because the sayings are a nice size and a bit long. I knew I needed something longer to fit in those great Tim Holtz labels dies. And I really liked the way they worked inside them.

I used the new Hero Arts envelope pattern background stamp and two Impression Obsession background stamps for the base of these cards. I then used the same ink color to edge the die cuts after I embossed them with the Cuttlebug Swiss dots embossing folder. And then I edged the die cut with a gold or silver Krylon pen. I really liked how that pen made the label pop.

To finish the cards off, I added a butterfly or dragon fly that was colored with Copics and accented with stickles.

These two cards were also made with an Impression Obsession background stamp, stamped several times on different colored card stock. It was then pieced together to make a bold background. Again, I used a saying stamped on a die cut (used Nellie Snellen multi-frame dies)
and added a few pearls and string as accent.

Here's the stamp set. Not only are the sayings so nice, but it comes with a few accent flowers and leaves. These sayings help you make quick cards. You only need a bit of decoration around the sayings and you're done. I think this will become one of my favorite saying sets.

Stay tuned for tomorrow, as I'm hoping to get one or two more cards done for you.

Gorgeous Christmas Card by Ginny Behrens!

While I was away, I asked Ginny to make a sample using the new European cutting and embossing die. And boy did she out do herself!!!!! Isn't it just gorgeous!!!! She used a Hero Arts set of "Christmas Balls", and our favorite Impression Obsesion background stamp. Ginny also used the "distressed lines" Cuttlebug embossing folder and the wreath die cutting and embossing set.
Here is a picture of the wreath die cutting/embossing set. As you can see, you also get the holly leaves and berries. This is now in stock as well as lots of new sets from Europe. They are very unique and everyone just loves them.

Check back, as I'll post a beautiful Thanksgiving Day card, also by Ginny. There she used the Spellbinders scalloped border die.

Butterflies, butterflies and more butterflies!

I was inspired by Jennifer of Hero Arts and her butterfly cards. And so we went for our Copic markers and started coloring. And coloring, and coloring. We made lots of quick and easy cards. And I have to say so myself, they came out great! This is a close up of a card, so you can see the dry embossing that was done with the Cuttlebug folder.
Here's a set of the cards.
And here's a close up of the butterflies, all cut out and ready to be adhered to the card. These butterflies look different than the ones on the cards, since here I used the Outlines butterfly. You can use any butterfly stamp, just as long as there isn't too much black on it.
So, if you like these examples, come and join us for the class. You'll make 4 cards and a holder for them. It makes a perfect gift. I have scheduled classes on Thursday, March 4th and Saturday, March 13th. (You can check the calendar on The Creative Corner's web site and please, don't forget to call to reserve your seat.)
