Boot Scootin’ Boogie

The birthday of a good friend is coming up and I made a special card for her. We used to go Line Dancing for many years and really LOVED it. We had so much fun and it was exercise too! We were dedicated; did this for over 10 years and would still be doing it if it wasn’t for the teacher having her hours change at her job. We tried finding other classes to join with no avail unfortunately. But we still have the memories.  Here’s a link to the Music Video of “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” for old time’s sake.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d05tQrhNMkA

And so I finally pulled out the Stampin’ Up “Bootiful Stamp Set and went to work with the cowboy boot.  I saw a post on Pinterest where the person made fringes for her card and thought that’s a wonderful idea. The person used special scissors to make the fringes. I don’t have such scissors and thought, well I could use my craft knife. But that would take a long time. And then I remembered that I had a Cheery Lynn die that made a flower but it looks like a fringe. (You would roll the die cut and it would become a 3 D flower.). I was so thrilled, I had to get out of bed at 11 o’clock or so and go downstairs and try it out! Found the die and made several fringes.

It’s always exciting to be able to use your supplies in ways they weren’t intended to be used!

Well, hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for “stamping” by!

New Sympathy Die from Impression Obsession

Happy Monday!

There comes a time when we need to make a sympathy card, and in those times we like to create something beautiful for the recipient.  This die helps you do just that.  Once I saw this new die in the new release, I imaged that if I add a few flowers, it would make the perfect card.

 So simple, yet very pretty.

Next, I reversed the colors - cut the die in white and layered it on a colored background.

And, lastly, a sample with just the "sympathy block" die and a border.  This of course is when you don't have the time to decorate the card, but it still comes out very nicely.

Supplies used:

Dies:  Impression Obsession "sympathy block", rectangle borders and stitched rectangle borders
          tiny  flowers
          small butterflies and medium butterflies
          Cheery Lynn cherry blossom die
Punches:  Nellie Snellen punch & emboss rose leaves

A Thank You Card and Coordinating Gift Box --- When a Card Just Isn't Enough

HELLO EVERYONE!!!
I'm back!  Yay!!!
So glad to get my "mo-jo" back and get back to blogging!
And I thank you so much for your continued support!!!

So, let's get down to business.

Recently I had to thank someone and knew that a card was simply not enough. So being the crafters that we are, I made a coordinating box and filled it with chocolates --- because, who doesn't like chocolate, especially Lindt truffles?

Here is what I created

I have been on a "teal" kick for awhile and had to use it here.  The card stock is from Hero Arts and by sanding the embossed medallion, the white core of the card stock comes through and you get both colors on one sheet!  I stamped and heat embossed the vellum and added the Cheery Lynn butterfly to complete the design.  The box is made from the same card stock with Cheery Lynn flowers and Marianne leaves. The "for you" die is from Impression Obsession.

Clean and simple, yet it makes a nice statement!

Thanks so much for stopping by,
Anna

Awesome Flower Tags! and a Baby One too!

Happy July !!!  Due to popular demand, we will be repeating the Flower Tags Workshop this Sunday, July 5th, at 1:30pm.  (Don't worry, this should give everyone enough time to attend church before class.)

You'll make these 4 fabulous tags PLUS this very cute giraffe tag!!!!

Tags are so versatile, especially when you seem to run out of time to make a card!!! LOL And it always seems to happen to me!!!
I therefore, just added the orchid tag to the gift bag and look how it saved the day!!!

Supplies used:
Dies:   Orchid and Love dies by Dee's Distinctively Dies, Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles, Impression Obsession Mini Tags, Small Picket Fence and Mini Solid Butterflies, Pansy flower by Leane Creatief, Sunflower by Marianne Creatables, Cheery Lynn's Chrysanthemum and leaf flourish
Stamps:   Impression Obsession, Lawn Fawn and Outlines

Axios!

Last month our new parish priest graduated from seminary and our bishop also made Fr. Gregory's appointment to our parish permanent!  Everyone was very happy and in honor of the occasion, I made a special card for Father Gregory and Matushka Kathy.

I used all dies on the card and "Axios" was computer generated.  I really like the beautiful cross die by Die Versions.

By the way, the meaning of the Greek word Axios is an acclamation of faith. Adopted by the early Eastern Orthodox church, it is made by the faithful at the ordination of bishops, priests and deacons.

Supplies Used:
Dies:   Cross - Die Versions, Cherry Blossoms - Cheery Lynn, Stem flourish and Pretty oval - Marianne Creatables, Large square lattice - Nellie Snellen
Punches:   Mini flower/butterfly set - Nellie Snellen
Other:  Peel off circle ruby gems, Viva Decor pearl pen and Stickles

Go Yankees!

Today is the first day of spring training for the Mets and the Yankees!  This can only mean that spring is just around the corner!!!  And hopefully warmer weather!!! We so need it!

In honor of spring training, here is a fabulous box card that Cecilia Prange made for Soni last year.  I finally came around to post it!  Sorry Ceci that it took so ling and that this post got away from me.

Now, if you know Soni, you know that she is an avid Yankees fan and just loved this surprise box card that she was able to display through the entire baseball season!

Ceci gave us some tips: she went to the Party Store and was able to get Yankee themed wrapping paper and some other goodies to fill the box.  (The wrapping paper was very economical with lots of pictures that she was able to cut out and use.)

Here are some more views:

Ceci also used some Cheery Lynn dies as well as Marianne, Joy, and HeroArts dies, and even some punches.  It's a birthday gift in itself!

Now I know what I'll create for my brother for his birthday!  Though it will be Mets themed!  Go Mets!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

One Die, Two Looks

Happy Sunday!  And it is finally sunny and quite warm (high 30's) after being in the negative digits!!!  As I say each day, we're ONE day closer to spring!!!

Today I want to show you two cards I completed with the same border die.

This card was inspired by Kittie Caracciolo.  You can see the card she made HERE.  I just love her work and when I saw the card she made with this border die (Sue Wilson's French collection border and tag set), I just had to get the die set!

I tried several flowers and they just didn't work.  Then I came across this Cheery Lynn Frangipani flower die, and I imagined that it should work.  I also love this flower because it reminds me of my many happy times in Barbados!  After I finished the card and looked on line at the flower again, I realized that I should have curled it a bit differently.  I will try improving the look of this flower in the next card I make.  But all in all, I like the look of this card - it just makes me smile and feel happy!  Hope it does that for you too.

The second card was inspired by Sue Wilson herself.  I watched a video where she demonstrated using not only the border but the card stock that is left behind.  I liked the look and tried it out here.  I added micro fine "cool highlights" glitter to the background of the card and it truly gives it a nice sparkle.  I even created a border by piercing the layered card stock; also a favorite detail of Sue Wilson.

Supplies Used:
Dies:  Creative Expressions Sue Wilson French Collection border, corner and tag die set and Vinery Petite set,  Cheery Lynn Frangipani flower set, baby's breath set and Chrysanthemums, Dee's Distinctively With Love words, Marianne's open flower and leaf
Other:  Micro glitter ritz in cool highlights, Viva Decor pearl pen, Copic markers

Spring is on it's way and we can even see it in our card creations!
Have a wonderful day!

Hope you are enjoying this wonderful holiday with family, friends and good food!  I was home yesterday and made this Thanksgiving tag even though there was a snowstorm outdoors!

The Elegant Chantilly Bow

Happy Holiday Weekend!

Hope you are having a wonderful holiday weekend.  I celebrated the 4th by setting aside some time for myself to play with the chantilly bow die from Tattered Lace.  I have been wanting to create with this die for quite some time but time seems to keep getting away from me!

I had a layout in mind and even the color scheme of white on white with teal as the accent.  Teal is becoming my new go to color this summer.  I even picked up a few new kitchen towels with teal in them!  I think because it reminds me so much of the beautiful Caribbean sea and how much I love sitting on my favorite beach in Barbados and taking in the stunning scenery.  I am so grateful that I was there just a few months ago for Maria and Gary's wedding.  So many wonderful memories and..........dreaming of my next visit.

OK, now back to reality and my card ------

I cut the pretty bow die twice - once in teal (Hero Arts pool card stock set) and once in white.   I cut the white bow in order to layer it differently underneath the teal one.  I also used the new 5 X 7 embossing folder (delicate hearts).  I picked a white rose that I had already made previously and added it to the center of the bow.  I am so pleased with the outcome. It is so pretty and really can be used for so many occasions.  And it was a QUICK card!  I only fussed with the bow - curling it a bit and raising it when adhered it to the card.  The finishing touch was made with a Viva Decor pearl pen.

Here is a side view so that you can see the layers, depth and detail of this card ---

Now, onto my next creation.  Well, actually, it's off to work soon!  But, hopefully I will have some more time this week to create some new cards for your inspiration.

Supplies used:
Stamp:  Hero Arts
Dies: Tattered Lace chantilly bow, Cheery Lynn cuties 2
Embossing folder:  Delicate hearts
Ink:  Brilliance pearlescent jade
Other:  Viva Decor pearl pen

Simple Birthday Card

Good Morning fellow crafters!  I finished a simple birthday card several days ago and now I can post it.

I love white on white cards, but here I wanted to add a very pretty teal accent and of course some diamond stickles sparingly throughout the background;  very simple, didn't take too much time and yet very pretty.

Supplies used:
Dies:    Marianne Creatables garden branch and Anja card stand, Cheery Lynn butterfly and flowers from the  baby's breath set, Impression Obsession tiny flowers, Spellbinders labels 18
Stamp:  Hero Arts
Ink:      Brilliance pearlescent jade

A Little Black Box

Just as every woman likes to have the perfect little black dress in her closet, so goes it for us crafters and the little black box; perfect for so many occasions.

I love making these boxes since they look so professional.  Once you make the box, you only need to decorate it and you are done.  (And if you use printed paper, there is not much decorating needed.)

I decorated the top with the Tattered Lace florentine bow dies.  I know that when I first saw those dies, I thought, "why are they called bows"?  Well, if you curl them and sort of fold them in half, but not all the way, you have the loops!  I layered two loops and then used the Cheery Lynn cuties to make the flower in the center.  Added some leaves from the rose leaf embossing punch and that was it;  pretty black and white with a bit of red!

If you would like to learn how to make this decorated origami box, as well as 3 other kinds of boxes, join us for class this Saturday, June 28@1PM.Be sure to call or email to reserve your seat!

Supplies used:
Dies:  Tattered Lace Florentine bow set, Cheery Lynn cuties 2
Punch:  Large rose leaf floral punch & embosser by Nellie Snellen

Thanks so much!

Cupcakes Galore

Yay cupcakes!  I don't think that there is anyone out there who doesn't like cupcakes!  And of course I decided to make a pop up card in a box with cupcakes and cherries!

I used gold, chocolate and cream colored card stock (it may look white, but it's cream for vanilla) to make the cupcakes.  The Marianne Creatable cupcake die set includes a cherry, a candle and a flower die; perfect for decorating the yummy snacks.

I decided to use the saying, "My Happy Place" - perfect for any occasion.  I have to laugh because when I think of the saying, "go to your happy place", I think of the movie, Happy Gilmore!  LOL!   I believe that cupcakes can be a happy place for many!

Supplies used:
Dies:  Marianne Creatables cupcakes set
Nellie Snellen multi frame heart dies MFD 022
           Joy Crafts daisy set
Cheery Lynn - flourish leaf strip, baby's breath flower kit
Stamps:  Hero Arts

A Peaceful Garden

Happy Friday Everyone!
Recently I was asked to create a special Mother's Day card for someone.  Pat wanted it to be a 3-D Pop up card in a box so that her mom could display it on her desk and enjoy it year round.

Pat told me that her mom's favorite color is purple;  her mom loves flowers and old fashioned hearts and she doesn't like butterflies, birds nor any insects.  So right away I felt a bit challenged since whenever I need to fill a space, I just stick a butterfly or bird on it!  LOL!

I went to work by thinking what design I could come up with.  I also flipped through my dies and saw the pretty lattice garden trellis that I haven't used yet and thought I just have to use it.  I was so glad that the width of the trellis fit perfectly into the box!  What luck!!!

And so I started to put the scene together.  I said it before and I'll say it again, it is so much fun building the scene and watching it grow.  I decided to have the flowers go up the trellis as well as some behind it and even attached some to the back of the box to give it more depth.   Pat also told me that her mom likes cats and so I added a cat to the scene.

I was so happy when Pat picked up the card today and she was very pleased.  She said I truly captured her mom.  How wonderful!

Supplies used:
Dies:  Cheery Lynn - grass border, flourish leaf strip, baby's breath flower kit, cuties 2
Impression Obsession - clouds, sun & moon, tiny flowers, leafy branch, cat set
          Marianne Craftables - garden trellis
Nellie Snellen multi frame dies MFD 022, MFD 020
Stamps: Just Rite
Other:  Stickles, Copic markers

Valentine Sundaes

Hello, hello hello!

Sorry that I have been under the radar.............I'm glad to be back and today I have a special card to share with you!

I have seen this ice cream sundae stamp used by the Impression Obsession design team and thought how cute; I need to try something with it and so I stamped it several times and took out my Copics and started coloring.  It took a few tries to come up with the right colors and then I cut two out and started to play with a layout.

The Cheery Lynn doily gives it an old fashioned look and the hearts of course make you think of Valentine's Day.  But if you don't want to use this for Valentine's Day, it would be perfect for a birthday; especially for kids and teenagers.  And what about for those of us who remember sitting in an ice cream parlor and sharing a sundae with that special someone!

Hope this inspires you to start thinking about V-Day!  It will be here before we know it!

Supplies used:
Stamps:  Impression Obsession and Just Rite
Dies:  Cheery Lynn doily, Nellie Snellen nesting hearts, Impression Obsession heart border (I used the tiny hearts that fell out from the heart border.  Will now have to think of another card to actually use the heart border)
Other:  Copics, stickles

Great use of Snowmen "Toppers"

Happy Fall!
Yes, fall came in yesterday and now time is just ticking away.  Have you started your Christmas projects yet?  I got these snowmen "toppers" in and they are not only gorgeous but so easy to use.  I made a tag and then used a different snowman topper to make a card. (Basically, take the tag and expand it onto a card!)

These toppers are simply great if you want to mass produce some tags or cards.  These snowmen are so cute, made of excellent card stock quality, already pre-cut for you and with gold foil and glitter!  You get 10 different snowmen in the package!

Each snowman is package in an envelop with the 3 layering pieces!  You just take one envelope out and put the guys together.  (only 3 layers to build!)  Layer the completed snowman on a tag or continue making a card.  Soooooo simple and quick!  I know I will make 10 quick cards and have these guys ready for sending out in December!  And the whole package of 10 snowmen go for only $8.25!

And to see how nice and quick these are, come by on Saturday, September 28 and make a tag!!!  You are going to fall in love with these guys!

Yes, since it is now count down to Christmas making ideas, I will try to have as many Make and Takes for you!  Next Saturday,  October 5 will be a Pergamano Make and Take!!!  I'll post that tomorrow!

ALSO, on Saturday, October 5 at 1PM, we'll have the very popular, Tag You're It class!!!  Come and make several Christmas tags PLUS a tag for a wine bottle that you will be able to use for Thanksgiving!

Fall is here and the Creative Corner is here to help you make your holidays fun and creative!!!

See you real soon!
